Textbook: Leon Simon's lecture notes. Will be handed out in hard copy in class. Each of these "lectures" amounts to 2-3 50 minute lectures for our course when done in detail. However, I will try to do some topics in less detail to get through as much of the 16 lectures as possible; certainly getting through the first 11 "lectures" is a goal.
This is an advanced graduate PDE class, but no PDE background is required. However, a working knowledge of functional analysis as in 205A-B is a must. We rely on Leon Simon's lecture notes. This course should be appropriate for first year graduate students.Grading policy: There are a few homeworks which must be handed in, but due to unavailability of graders, will not be graded carefully. There are no exams.
The homework will be due either in class or by 10am in the instructor's mailbox on the designated day. You are allowed to discuss the homework with others in the class, but you must write up your homework solution by yourself. Thus, you should understand the solution, and be able to reproduce it yourself.
